Ever hear this argument?
"Abortion is ethically permissible in
some cases because of the life you would be giving to your child. In
fact, you *should* have an abortion in some cases if you know that your
child might live 'deprived' existence. Children of single-parent
households are statistically more depressed and prone to an assortment
of problems etc. etc. etc."
Progressive thought is an amazing
thing isn't it. One hallmark of progressive belief is the accusation
that conservatives are really cultrual imperialists, asserting that the
"right and wrong" of the conservative should not be imposed on cultures
who disagree. But one needs to realize that they (progressives) clearly
have an idea of right and wrong.
Thats why I think we need to integrate these progressive ideas into our foreign policy--
Lets identify countries where the quality of life is such that it would be cruel to have a child -- and sterilize everyone.
Seriously,
if you live in a country like that-- you should be ethically
responsible for the life you want to give your child. If you know that
your child is going to be deprived of our American way of life, why the
heck would you want to introduce him into such a cruel world?
